YIN YOGA
with Chanel Rose Mc Cormick
Yin yoga is a quiet, passive style of yoga in which the asanas (postures) are mostly performed lying down and sitting and held for between three and seven minutes. Between the asanas, a neutral lying position is often integrated for harmonisation.
BJJ is a martial art that requires a high degree of flexibility on the one hand and the ability to move quickly from one position to the next on the other.
It almost seems as if the arts of Jiu-Jitsu and Yoga were designed to complement each other.
Apart from the fact that yoga has been proven to alleviate depression, high blood pressure and a number of other physical ailments, it also helps your BJJ in many specific ways, some of which I will outline below:
It improves your mobility, flexibility and elasticity
It strengthens the muscles and joints to prevent injury
It helps you develop your spatial intelligence
It teaches you to breathe properly
It corrects your posture It teaches you to breathe properly
